Casa Real Shrine
Originally made from bamboo and palm leaves but replaced by hardwood and tile, then later rebuilt using bricks and mortar in 1786, Casa Real had been a place of different functions since 1580.
Long before the Casa Real that we knew, this establishment functioned as the seat of government of the gobernadorcillo during the Spanish colonization, banquet hall and ballroom for official functions, as a treasury of the Spanish government during the American invasion, as a printing press of manuscripts like La Independencia, El Heraldo dela Revolucion, Kalayaan and Kaibigan ng Bayan, a hospital in 1923, military headquarters, bank, post office and later on became an annex of Bulacan National High School in 1941.
Today, Casa Real is a shrine housing different memorabilia from the 21 Women of Malolos who were courageous enough to voice out their thoughts; given an era when they weren't encouraged in doing so. Gat Jose Rizal, the Philippines National hero, once wrote a poem commending the audacity of these brave women.
Also in this museum are two other exhibits. "Eminent Bulakenyas" pays tribute to the daughters of Bulacan who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and "Filipina Firsts" honors 100 women who were the first Filipino in professional fields or events previously dominated by men.
